This filter works pretty well. It’s basically silent, and the transparent material is great because it doesn’t detract from the appearance of the tank. However, since it is transparent, it is easy for algae to grow and clog easily. I have a very bright grow light and haven’t had this problem with filters that aren’t clear.Every few weeks it completely breaks down and removes the algae that has built up.

For the price, you can’t beat this filter. It’s not quiet by any means, but you can barely hear it. I was amazed at how quickly this filter cleaned a 5 gallon tank with 2 goldfish. If you know goldfish, you know that they have a lot of poop. The tank was almost imperceptibly dirty at first, but cleared after about 30 minutes. Wow!

I’ve used the Bio-Rad on all my tanks and have never had a problem.I’ve never had one break or have had to replace the Bio-Wheel.I replaced mine after a year. I only needed to clean things up, but that has always worked.I will definitely stay with these.

For small reef tanks, skip the protein skimmer. Get this. Cartridges are cheap and contain carbon (use them for clear water). Grab some large rolls of filter floss and water abrasive sheets. Cut it out and tuck it behind a regular cartridge. During a water change, blow off surface debris from stones and sand and let it sit before replacing the floss and scouring pad. Easy.

I tried this filter when I was just trying to get rid of goldfish. Other filters I tried were too loud and silly, this one isn’t quiet, but it blends well into background his noise. My tank has been clean for months. There are probably better filters out there, but not in this price range.

It will take a month for my tank to be gross. It’s a bit noisy, so my parents will close it at night, so it can’t be helped, but aside from the noise, I think it will take a little longer depending on the size of the pool if it’s not closed at night.

This filter works well, but it’s far from whispering. Also disjointed and without clear instructions. Had to google videos just to tank in one piece. The flow is adjustable, which is great. Max flow is very strong, but the other spectrums throw too slow. Almost no drip. All in all it’s pretty good.

Got this for a bait minnow I keep in a 10 gallon bucket and it always gets caught on the side of the filter due to suction.So defeats the purpose of having the filter keep them alive … but filters are great when it comes to keeping the water clean. Suitable for anything larger than turtles and minnows.
